Generating Heap dumps, Java Core and System Dumps with IBM WebSphere Application Server 8 (WAS 8) using the admin console

https://localhost:10003/ibm/console/login.do?action=secure

Log into the Administrative Console



Select Java dumps and cores form the Troubleshooting section located in the main Left-Hand side navigation panel.



Select you Server and then click on of the three buttons

Heap Dump

InformationHeap dump request was sent successfully to server server1.
InformationThe output file for the operation is c:\Program Files (x86)\ibm\WebSphere\AppServer\profiles\secure\.\heapdump.20110827.133302.1220.0001.phd..

Java Core

Java core request was sent successfully to server server1.

System Dump


InformationSystem dump request was sent successfully to server server1.
InformationThe output file for the operation is c:\Program Files (x86)\ibm\WebSphere\AppServer\profiles\secure\.\core.20110827.133348.1220.0003.dmp.

Example output files as a result of clicking all three buttons.
