How to create a new WebSphere Profile using the command line.

Note on Linux 64bit installations, there is no graphical GUI option. So if you have used a new install type and a cell profile type using the default installation response file, then you wil need to use the following command if you wish to create a new application server node for WebSphere ND.

If you have a DMGR install at /var/apps/was7/profiles/dmgr and a node installed at /var/apps/was7/profiles/appsrv01, then to create a new node you could use this syntax

./manageprofiles.sh -create -profileName appsrv02 -profilePath /var/apps/was7/profiles/appsrv02 -templatePath /var/apps/was7/profileTemplates/managed -cellName appsrv02node02 -hostName appsrv02.webspheretools.com -nodeName appsrv02node02 -enableAdminSecurity true -adminUserName wasadmin -adminPassword wasadmin

You can tail the log in

/var/apps/was7/logs/manageprofiles

to watch the manage profile command do it's work.

Now that you have created the profile you need to federate the node using the add node command.

Usage: addNode dmgr_host [dmgr_port] [-conntype <type>] [-includeapps]
[-includebuses] [-startingport <portnumber>] [-portprops
<qualified-filename>] [-nodeagentshortname <name>] [-nodegroupname
<name>] [-registerservice] [-serviceusername <name>]
[-servicepassword <password>] [-coregroupname <name>] [-noagent]
[-statusport <port>] [-quiet] [-nowait] [-logfile <filename>]
[-replacelog] [-trace] [-username <username>] [-password <pwd>]
[-localusername <localusername>] [-localpassword <localpassword>]
[-profileName <profile>] [-excludesecuritydomains] [-help]

cd /var/apps/was7/profiles/appsrv02/bin

./addNode.sh localhost 8879 -conntype soap -profileName appsrv02 -username wasadmin -password wasadmin

Result

ADMU0306I: Note:
ADMU0304I: Because -includeapps was not specified, applications installed on
the standalone node were not installed on the new cell.
ADMU0307I: You might want to:
ADMU0305I: Install applications onto the cell01 cell using wsadmin $AdminApp or
the Administrative Console.

ADMU0003I: Node appsrv02node02 has been successfully federated.
